Site Update! — December 9, 2010
Salutations to all of my loyal, yet stunned, followers. You may have noticed by now that the site has undergone a nearly complete redesign. The bold new in-your-face, cutting edge, love-me-or-leave-me-but-please-don't-leave-me look may have a few of you pining for the simple HTML of old and wondering why I would devote so much of my precious, precious time into making the site look different? Well, the answer is as profound as it is life-altering.
The old look sucked. Like, really sucked. I was contacted by Merriam-Webster asking for permission to put a photo of my site next to the definition of the word 'suck.' Hopefully this new look will also put a stop to all of my old computer science professors lowering their heads in shame and mumbling "We've failed him."
As always though, I have tried to keep the focus of my site on the content, and I hope you all are still enjoying the comics that I've been creating. The next major update I am planning to implement should allow for RSS feed support, but God only knows when I'll sober up enough to attempt that! Until then, I hope you all continue to enjoy the comics!
Cheers!
It's ALIVE!!! — November 28, 2010
Greetings, time-wasters! Thanks to the advice and support of a few close friends, I was finally able to launch "Hogflats" on November 28th, 2010. It's been a pretty good learning experience so far, and hopefully the quality of the site only increases with time.
A little background on the site: the idea for this site first came to my head on a slow day of working tech support. I doodled a comic (the first comic posted) on a note card to help stave of the boredom and frustration of trying to explain to people that "No m'am, Netscape Navigator is no longer supported. You need to upgrade your browser." That may sound like I'm joking, but trust me—I'm not.
I posted the comic for a few of my friends to see, and it elicited two types of feedback—people that found it funny, and people that didn't understand it at all. Not wanting to leave my non-techie friends out of the mix, I doodled a few more comics and posted those as well (comics #2 and #3). Both also received positive feedback.
I had been wanting to make a website of my own for some time, but had never been able to think of a good enough idea for one. Not patient enough to wait for a good idea though, I decided to turn my comics into their own website—a truly ground-breaking idea, I know. My intention is to update Hogflats every Tuesday and Thursday, seeing as how this fits nicely with my goal of finally having something close to a two-day work week.
I'm looking forward to seeing what happens. This should be fun!
Cheers!
